Summer in the Psalms: Eight Weeks in the Prayer Book of Jesus

Why study the Psalms together as a church?

“The Psalms are the prayer book of Jesus Christ in the truest sense of the word. He prayed the Psalter and now it has become his prayer for all time…we understand how the Psalms can be prayer to God and yet God’s own Word, precisely because here we encounter the praying Christ…because those who pray the psalms are joining in with the prayer of Jesus Christ, their prayer reaches the ears of God. Christ has become their intercessor…” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer, 20th century German theologian, pastor, and martyr.

Each week, we will hear an original song written by Brett Taylor, Director of Worship Arts.

June 26: Psalm 1 Evergreen (Psalm 1)
July 3: Psalm 4 Psalm 4
July 10: Psalm 8 Psalm 8
July 17: Psalm 19 Psalm 19 (Your Song)
July 24: Psalm 22 Psalm 22 (Cry of Christ)
July 31: Psalm 23 Psalm 23
Aug 7: Psalm 25 Psalm 25 (I Turn to Thee)
Aug 14: Psalm 27

We will wrap up the series with a church-wide hymn sing, August 14 at 4:30 p.m.
