Dear West End Family,

Debbie and I want to share with you that we believe the Lord is calling us to a new season and a new role at West End Community Church.

Pastoring West End has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives, and we care deeply about this community and each of you. Through months of prayer, seeking godly counsel, and discerning with our elders, we feel that it is the right time, after 26 years, for me to transition from my role as your Senior Pastor.

We are excited that this change in my role will afford me the opportunity to spend more time doing what I love—being with and discipling people—and to focus on some projects that I have not yet had the time or energy to explore.

I am confident that the Lord has great things in store for West End. God has been so faithful to provide a gifted and dedicated staff, abundant financial resources, and a vibrant congregation that seeks to impact Nashville for Jesus. It is a joy to see so many new faces each Sunday.

Sharing with the elders over the last year or so, we have dreamt of what a healthy transition might look like. We have faithful and unified leadership and have engaged an experienced consulting firm to help guide the transition. I trust that the Lord will use our elders to get us where we need to be and ask that you prayerfully support them.

This may take a few months, or many months, but I am committed to serving as your Senior Pastor through this transition. After that, I am looking forward to serving West End in a new capacity, supporting our new Senior Pastor, and experiencing God’s loving hand as he works through his church.

Yours for making disciples of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth,

Carter Crenshaw
